  • February 2010: Chuanju Liu, PhD, Associate Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Cell Biology, has been awarded a prestigious BioAccelerate NYC Prize in a citywide competition that provides funding for biomedical translational research. The focus of the award is on technology and research that have advanced beyond the point where an academic institution or the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is prepared to fund, but before the investment and commercial sectors are interested in committing dollars. The program is sponsored by the New York City Investment Fund (NYIC), with assistance of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). Dr. Liu's application, “Atsttrin as a therapeutic TNFR blocker in rheumatoid arthritis,” was the only winner from the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Liu's laboratory is a key component of the Musculoskeletal Research Center.
